Residential Support
Valmar’s high support residential services are located in Tumut, Yass and Queanbeyan. The high support service aims to help people with high to exceptional support needs live in a community based accommodation setting with 24 hour support.

Community Living
The Community Living service assists adults with a mild to moderate disability to live independently within the community. The support offered by the service allows clients to enjoy a standard of living and the same rights and responsibilities in mainstream society.

Community Access and Community Participation Services
Valmar’s Community Access Service (CAS) and the Community Participation program (CP) provides a service to help clients have a profile in the community and have the opportunity to participate in various activities.
The CAS service caters for people, between 18 and 65 years of age, with a moderate to severe disability residing in the Tumut, Gundagai, Tumbarumba and Yass shires.
The CP program is designed for school leavers with moderate to high support needs who require an alternative to paid employment, vocational training or higher education.

Career Development Initiatives
The Career Development Initiatives program is open to school leavers who have a disability as defined under the NSW Disability Services Act 1993. The applicant’s disability must be
attributable to an intellectual, psychiatric, sensory, physical impairment or similar that is permanent and needs some form of support in one or more major life
activities including; communication, learning or mobility.

Tumut Meals on Wheels Service
Valmar’s Meals on Wheels service has a fully operational kitchen in Tumut and provides a service to help clients maintain their independence at home through the delivery of nutritious locally prepared meals. The service aims to ensure that consumers and their families are involved in the planning and delivery of services.
Funded through the Home and Community Care (HACC) program the service is available to people with a functional disability living in Tumut. Further information regarding this service can be gained from contacting the service manager on 02 6947 4833.
Home Modification and Maintenance Service
This service aims to improve the client’s home to ensure their safety and enable them to continue to live independently for as long as possible. The service subsidizes 70% of labour costs.
Modifications include installation of grab rails in bathrooms and toilets, slip resistant flooring, hand rails at dwelling entry points, kitchen modifications, access modifications including widening of doorways, installation of ramps, relocating electrical switches. Maintenance are generally one off projects to improve safety for the client and can include carpentry, plumbing, gardening, gutter cleaning, window cleaning and roofing repairs.

Flexible Respite Options
Respite Care is defined as an alternative or supplemental care arrangement with the primary purpose of giving the carer a short term break from their usual caring role. A carer is defined as a person such as a family member, friend or neighbour who provides regular and sustained assistance to another person without payment for their caring role other than a pension or benefit.
Valmar’s respite service has two funding streams. The HACC respite program is funded through the HACC program administered by the Department of Ageing, Disability & Home Care. The National Respite For Carers Respite program is an Australian government initiative funded through the Department of Health and Ageing. Tumut Youth Commitment
Tumut Youth Commitment is a service that aims to provide support to young people at risk of prematurely leaving school whilst not having a job or not moving on to higher education. The Youth Commitment service provides assistance to these indivdiauls whilst still in the school environment. Eligible persons are identified within the school system. Through a sub contracting arrangement Valmar employs the Youth Commitment Coordinator who covers Gundagai, Tumut and Batlow high schools.

Open Employment
Open Employment service provides pre-employment support and on the job training, skills development and support to people who have a disability. The type of help you receive depends on your needs and the type of assistance you require. The service will assist you to develop an Employment Action plan to identify any employment goals you may have.

Valmar Business Services
Valmar currently has three business service options to provide employment to people with a disability in a supported environment. Valmar provides flexible opportunities for individuals to participate in decision making at all levels, including individual choices in pre employment planning and employment goal setting. The business services that Valmar currently operates are:
Pinecom timber is a specialised timber cutting facility located in an industrial setting in Tumut. Work at Pinecom is varied and includes cleaning, packing timber, operating saws and driving forklifts.
Pinecom recycling centre is a joint venture with Tumut Shire council. The centre sorts domestic recycling that is collected through kerb side collections and recyclables that are delivered to the drop off station.
Taskwrights is a grounds maintenance service that contracts competitively and provides service to business and domestic clients. With onsite training, competencies can be gained in turf care and various other aspects of ground maintenance.
The Old Butter Factory Café is a commercial café that provides support and training to individuals with a disability to work in the food industry. Work within the café involves kitchen duties, setting up business signs and general cleaning.
