Valmar’s recycling plant fell silent for the last time at the close of business on Thursday 23rd June at the Jarrah Rd site. It is being dissembled and moved as quickly as possible to the new, purpose built waste management and recycling site at Gilmore. This new facility is a joint venture between DEEWR, Tumut Shire Council and Valmar.
Once fully operation Valmar will operate the site under a longterm MOU with Tumut Shire Council and provide ongoing and secure employment for 14 people. 11 of the people have a disability and will have their support needs funded through the Australian Disability Enterprise program administered by FaCSIA.
The official opening for the site is planned for the 15th of August 2011.
