The Home Modification & Maintenance Service is a HACC funded program to assist people to continue to live at home for as long as possible. The service is divided into two streams as follows:
Home Modification – This is where people can have modifications made to their house to reduce risk of injury or inability to stay at home. Modifications are varied but may include: widening of doorways to accommodate wheelchairs, modifications to bathrooms, door or tap handles and the installation of ramps as an alternative to stairs.
Home Maintenance – Is a service that allows for a one-off maintenance project to reduce risk to the home dweller. The maintenance projects covered by this program are designed to maintain safety in the home and may include cleaning of gutters that are clogged and overflow causing a falls hazard or a general cleanup of unkempt lawn area.
Eligibility is based on the HACC target group. Cost is based on the work to be completed and further information on the Home Modification & Maintenance Service can be obtained by contacting the service Coordinator.
